Akimbo for MCE? don’t bother

A couple of weeks back I took the opportunity of downloading the newly launched Akimbo plugin for MCE. I really, really wish I hadn’t. First and foremost it slows things down, not by a lot but enough to notice. Secondly don’t believe anything you read on the Akimbo website. When they say they’ve got all these great channels you can download stuff from, they fail to mention that most come with a handful of programs (there is nothing more frustrating than opening so-called content folders on a channel to find that they are empty, over and over again), some you then have to pay extra for, and those you can actually download don’t work with MCE at all. I wish I was kidding, but I’m not. Tonight I’m cancelling my subscription and uninstalling it from my box, my advice to others: dont try this at home! I’ve read some people say that Akimbo is the future of TV, and perhaps it is, if the year was still 1950. Honestly, you’d be better spending the money on Movielink or something similar.
