Archos on Thursday said it inked a deal with Englewood, Colo.-based EchoStar Communications Corp. to develop digital video recorder technology.

EchoStar plans to invest $9 million in Archos as part of the pact.

For its part, Archos, the U.S. arm of Archos SA, a French maker of portable music and video devices, will provide EchoStar with portable digital video recorders that transfer video content from EchoStar’s DISH Network set-top boxes.
