ASUS to deliver first motherboard with TV reception


In a move with if widely adapted could change the face of DIY PVR’s, Asus has announced that it is to launch as motherboard with TV reception.

ASUS will use a two-chip solution from Philips that includes a silicon tuner and audio/video decoder in a compact form factor to make it easy for motherboard manufacturers to add analog TV reception to their designs. The TDA8275 silicon tuner and SAA7131 audio/video decoder will enable computer users access to TV on their PCs, and subsequently PVR functions, without the necessity of purchasing an add-on TV card.
